I
needed a birthday card recently for one if the men in my life. I decided to start with "A Good Man" stamp because that describes this man well. I expected to do some colouring as it includes outline stamps. However sometimes the creative flow takes me in a different direction.
Once I had stamped the image on the whisper white layer I realised the outline was effective. When I played with the sentiment I planned to use, this idea took hold.
I have given the original card, and made 2 more - this time using Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White. It works just as good!
The card is very simple to make:
Standard base - 1/2 A4 sheet
Matching layer - 0.5cm smaller
Very Vanilla layer - 1.0cm smaller than layer
The sizes I use are:
Base - 10.5cm X 14.9cm
Layer 1 - 10cm X 14.4cm
Layer 2 - 9cm X 13.4cm
I tried 2 ways of creating the sentiment
Method 1
1. Stamp the sentiment twice using Basic Black and the card base colour.
2. Cut around both the "good" words in the base colour as neatly as I could
3. Cut the Basic Black into 2 at a suitable place
4. Adhere the coloured "good" over each of the full sentiment pieces
5. Cut 2 circles out of the base colour (I cut these from Layer 1 - you can't see that cause Layer 2 is onto of the holes!)
6. Adhere the sentiments to the circles
7. Adhere the sentiment and layer to the card using dimensionals
Method 2
1. Colour the sentiment using the Stampin' Write markers - Basic Black and the card base colour
2. Cut the sentiment into a suitable shape
3. Punch a suitable layer using the base colour
4. Adhere the sentiment to the layer
5. Adhere the sentiment and layer to the card using dimensionals
The inside of the card and the envelope are decorated with the birds in Basic Black to match the front.
A simple card suitable for a special guy in your life perhaps.
